Pictures of the new boiler for 19B being constructed at Boston Lodge on the FR.
Pictures taken on 12th March 2026, whilst a party of 19B supporters had the special privilege to see the progress.
The assemble of the boiler is taken in stages, after all the parts of the boiler where ‘tack’ welded together, the boiler inspector checked progress.
Next all the joints in the main boiler are fully welded up, along with the separate ‘inner’ fire box.
All the joints will be checked again by the boiler inspector before further completion.
Holes for the top stays have been drilled, at the correct angles, in the top of the inner fire box and the outer wrapper, holes for the side stays will be drilled when the fire box is assembled.
Holes for the firebox firing door etc. are still to be cut.
