It is perhaps unfortunate for many of us that have spent a lifetime collecting books to realise that  they are now worth a lot less than they were whilst we were actively collecting, with a glut of books available from executors, and from people down-sizing.  We do not propose to get into the general railway second-hand railway book market, but we do realise that many of the books covering Indian Railways are now out-of-print but still popular.

As a service to DHRS members, if you wish to dispose of all or part of your collection, we may be able to help by advertising them here.  The deal is as follows:-
:

1. It relates to books of Indian Railway interest only

2. The society will retain 50% of the sale price (plus the whole of the postage charged)

3. Payment will be made within three weeks of the sale of books

4. You must trust the Society to fix the selling price for the book(s) but bear in mind it is in both our interests to make as much as we can from the sale, but we do need to ensure that the price is such that it is likely to sell.

These items will not be available through the normal website shop sales: it is an independent  operation. The procedures will be as follows:

If you wish to sell books:

Please list the books you wish to sell, and email it to the email address shown in the latest Darjeeling Mail. We will then reply and let you know where to send the books.
Please include your bank details (sort code, account name and number).

If you wish to buy books:

Please email to “ books@dhrs.org “, with which books you wish to buy, and we will calculate the exact postage for the complete order which will need to be added to the sale price.
Payment can then be made either by

1. Internet banking to the DHRS account, details will be provided or

2. Credit card, using the ‘special order’ pages on the Society website.

We will, whenever possible, show an updated list on this website, but please bear in mind that it may take a couple of days to update the website after a sale, and that your computer may retain an earlier version of the list, so always remember to hit the ‘refresh’ button  whilst looking at the list.
