Darjeeling Locomotive 19B
The Darjeeling Tank Locomotive Trust are delighted to be able to say that, “we have succeeded in our goal of securing 19B along with the two blue carriages for everyone.”
19B is at Statfold Barn Railway with the two blue carriages and has been used last summer at Statfold, along with all the other 2ft gauge locos on site.
19B has been stripped down for it’s 10 year overhaul in the workshop, it was hoping that it will be running again this summer but a new boiler is required as there are too many old age problems with the original one. The new boiler construction will take a year, unless they get donations of £80,000+ to move things forward.
Statfold Barn website is at

A late publication of the May issue!
Over the past few years news from the DHR can described
as nothing less than downright depressing, with nothing
more than the occasional glimmer of hope that is invariably shattered with the following issue of the Darjeeling Mail.
So as Paul Whittle wrote in February, it was good to report the series of discussions at Rail Bhavan, Delhi tackling the key issues affecting the DHR.
Unfortunately these were indecisive and we are yet again on the pendulum of Indian decision-making.
We have therefore decided to hold Issue 106 to await the outcome of further meetings.
