This story of Baby Sivok, the locomotive preserved at Ghum Museum on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, is as delightful as it is interesting and, though simplified, the story is also accurate. It is an early learning and dual-read story and colouring book aimed at children aged 4 to 11 years.
There are two separate versions in the text. The shorter story at the top is for younger children. Below the line is the more detailed text for older children or parents to read separately.
The small numbers at the end of some words relate to the detail notes at the foot of the page.
It was designed, written and illustrate by David Charlesworth GRA, a full-time professional artist and designer and the Editor and Board Director of the DHRS, but the idea for the book came from Ms Junhi Han of UNESCO, New Delhi, who loved the little engine. David and Junhi were in conversation at the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Headquarters, Elysia Lodge, Kurseong in 2018 and the story was developed on his long journey back to England.
