Sir Mark Tully, Patron DHRS

The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Society (DHRS) is pleased to announce  the appointment of its first Patron - the distinguished broadcaster and  former BBC India chief correspondent, Sir Mark Tully OBE.

Sir Mark was  born in Calcutta and his links with the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR)  are strong and personal: as a young boy he travelled on the line to school  in Darjeeling and his father was a director of the then privately owned  company.

DHRS Chairman  David Barrie said "We are delighted that Sir Mark has consented to be  our first Patron - his longstanding and deep affection for this wonderful  little railway made him the ideal choice. He will be a marvellous ambassador for us."
