Visit by officers  of Indian Railways on a fact finding tour of the UK

On a recent fact  finding tour to the UK, Member Mechanical, Indian Railways, Railway Board,  Mr R. R. Bhandari, found time to visit Adrian  Shooter's private railway, The Beeches Light Railway.

Mr Bhandari, author  of several well known and critically acclaimed books on Indian railways  and its history, (including a book devoted to the Darjeeling Himalayan  Railway,) was able to see Adrian's locomotive, ex DHR, No 19, 'B' class  tank.

Adrian was able  to also show him the DHR replica coaches built for his railway by the  Ffestiniog Railway's Boston Lodge Works.

Mr Bhandari was  in the UK and was part of a mission led by Shri Lalu Prasad, Minister  for Railways. The party also saw Chiltern railways, and the Heritage Leighton  Buzzard Railway, before travelling to Europe. There they were to take  in railways in France, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy.

The party were  keen to observe railway practice in Europe.
