January 2012, I had an opportunity to travel from Darjeeling to Kurseong
on a steam train rather than the regular diesel power hauled.

On 17th January 2012, the diesel had to undergo maintenance and
#786 was used to head the regular daily train from Darjeeling to Kurseong.
In Kurseong shed where #782 “Mountaineer” and
#806 “Queen of the Hills” (partly disassembled)
At Kurseong yard, work was going on restoring one new coach, while another one
“Nuptse” looked as if it had just been painted and was ready for service.
